Upcoming Government Projects in Greater Noida & Noida Extension

Greater Noida and Noida Extension are set for major government-led infrastructure upgrades over the next few years. These new projects promise better connectivity, faster travel, job creation, green development, and higher real estate value. Let’s explore the key projects planned by authorities for 2025–2027.

1. Noida International Airport (Jewar Airport)

  • The new international airport near Jewar is expected to start operations by April–May 2025, at first using a single runway and serving around 50 lakh passengers annually. Full expansion will make it India’s largest airport with six runways.
  • This airport will dramatically boost connectivity and trade, making the region more attractive for businesses and residents.

2. Noida Metro Aqua Line Extension

  • The Metro journey will be extended from Sector 51 all the way to Greater Noida Knowledge Park‑V, with 11 new stations, including Sector‑61 (which will connect with Delhi Metro’s Blue Line)
  • This ₹ 2,991 crore expansion will greatly ease daily commutes and link Noida to Greater Noida more smoothly.

3. Ghaziabad–Jewar Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS)

  • A high-speed elevated corridor will connect Ghaziabad to Greater Noida (Ecotech VI) and then on to Jewar Airport.
  • The Detailed Project Report was submitted in April 2024, and construction is expected to begin once approvals are in place.
  • The first phase should complete by 2027, with final operations by 2030.

4. New Expressways & Roads

  • Second Noida–Greater Noida Expressway: A new 35 km road (or elevated corridor) is planned between Okhla barrage in Delhi and the Yamuna Expressway, to reduce congestion on the existing route. Final design options being considered include an eight-lane ground road or a six-lane elevated road.
  • FNG Expressway Revival: The 56 km Faridabad–Noida–Ghaziabad Expressway—currently under-construction—is being revamped. Around 45% of Haryana section was done by June 2025; the UP section is planned to restart by late 2025 with full operation.
  • 3 km Link Road between Greater Noida and the airport corridor is in progress to close a connectivity gap, offering a second access route to Jewar Airport.
  • 4 km Elevated Road from Greater Noida to meet the Delhi‑Meerut Expressway (DME) is also planned to ease inter-city travel into Delhi and Ghaziabad.

5. Environmental and Civic Infrastructure Upgrades

  • Control Systems at Sewage Treatment Plants: GNIDA will install online monitoring systems at all STPs in Greater Noida, starting with Badalpur and moving to Ecotech. This smart-city initiative enhances sewage management and real-time performance tracking.
  • Flood Mitigation Project on Aimanabad Bandh: Greater Noida has approved a ₹ 10.56 crore flood regulator to protect areas along the Hindon River.
  • Drain and Sewer Repair: IIT Roorkee is consulting on monsoon drainage upgrades in Noida, especially in flooded sectors like 62. Plans include repairing deep sewer lines on the Noida Expressway.
  • Skywalk & Travelator in Sector 62‑63: A new 400 m circular skywalk with travelator is planned above the busy roundabout near Electronic City Metro, to help pedestrians safely cross and reduce traffic jams. Construction to start soon and finish within a year.
  • Green Belt Along Yamuna Expressway: YEIDA plans a 35 km wide green belt, costing about ₹ 700 crore, from Galgotia University to Jewar Airport. This will include landscaping, theme‑parks, ponds, and mini monuments for aesthetic appeal and environmental benefits .

6. Industrial & Tech Investment Projects

  • HCL‑Foxconn Semiconductor Plant: A ₹ 3,706 crore chip assembly and packaging facility in YEIDA Sector 28 will make 36 million chips per month, creating around 2,000 jobs. This is Uttar Pradesh’s first approved semiconductor project.
  • Elektronics Cluster in Sector 10, Greater Noida: A 206‑acre electronics manufacturing hub with an investment of ₹ 539 crore supported by central and state authorities. Construction starts July 2025; completion in three years.
  • Logistics Hub near Jewar: A 250‑acre logistics zone with six warehouses and commercial facilities near the airport corridor, expected to generate 10,000 jobs.
  • Toy City Sector 33: India’s upcoming toy manufacturing park along Yamuna Expressway with dedicated infrastructure for toy production, export, and trade.

Why These Projects Matter

  • Better Connectivity: Airport, metro, RRTS, expressways and link roads will significantly reduce travel times and ease traffic.
  • Job Growth: Manufacturing, logistics, industrial and chip facilities will generate thousands of new jobs.
  • Real Estate Boost: Improved infrastructure will raise demand and property values in Greater Noida West, Extension, Ecotech, sectors 150–168, and near Jewar Airport.
  • Urban Comfort & Sustainability: Green belts, smart STPs, skywalks and flood systems will improve living conditions.
  • Economic Growth: These projects support Uttar Pradesh’s goals to establish Greater Noida and YEIDA as major urban and industrial centres.

Conclusion

Greater Noida and Noida Extension are on the verge of a transformation. The combined impact of the new Jewar Airport, extension of Metro and RRTS lines, upgraded roads and expressways, environment-enhancing green belts, and large-scale industrial projects make this one of India’s fastest emerging urban and investment zones.

With many of these developments scheduled between 2025 and 2027, homebuyers, investors, and businesses should watch the region closely for future opportunities.
